Spread That Light!

Do you get discouraged with the evil darkness that is all around you? Remember one very important thing: Light is more powerful than Darkness. It is in your power to overcome it, with God’s help and direction.

We are in a spiritual warfare. As we come up against it with light, the darkness will be threatened and will seek to overcome us. But silly darkness! Darkness cannot overcome light by being more present, but can only try to blow out the candles, unplug the electrical source, convince the light that it is not needed or shouldn’t be wasted. No, we who carry the light of the Gospel, which let’s face it – that is the hope for mankind – MUST spread it in order to keep the darkness away and show people their need for Christ, for salvation, for forgiveness, and for healing. Here are some encouraging words a friend sent me today, and I want to share with you as you spread the light.

Psalm 5:3,11,12: “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.”

Here is another encouraging quote I saw today on a friend’s email signature: “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain that which he cannot lose.”

Jim Elliot, 1949

Matthew 16:26: “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”

I encourage you to do what you can, in your corner of the world, as we serve and labor together for the cause of Christ. What a blessing. Go spread that light!
