Sweet Smelling

Ephesians 4:32-5:2: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

Most of us know Ephesians 4:32, but it’s interesting when we take it in context and keep reading the next couple verses. Be ye THEREFORE (whenever you see that word, look back and see what it’s “there for”) followers of God, as dear children. God wants us to walk in love because we are loved by God. Christ loved us so much He gave His life for you and me. He doesn’t want to lose us to bitterness or death or torment, but gain us to life, to fellowship with Him, to participate in His love, His peace, His joy, and yes, even His sufferings because the prince of the power of the air is evil.

Let’s make a difference today, and be like Christ, a “sweetsmelling savour”, and not a foul odor!
